Officers with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game were on patrol when they observed an individual fishing along the Big Canyon Creek. Because the Steelhead Trout use this creek for spawning, there is no open season for targeting them. The officers stopped to contact the individual.
In the end, the angler was ultimately charged with fishing without a license and unlawful fishing. He was appointed a public defender and pled not guilty. Before the case made it to trial, the case was dismissed by the prosecutor. We called the courthouse and they did not have any additional information. We then called the county prosecutor’s office, but we were told they cannot provide any additional information.
