Really hard sea fishing conditions as I force my way on to the beach to see if I can even cast. The wind blows hard and the rain is unrelenting! Ive often wondered if you can catch fish all year round as if to eat and survive- even in these harsh fishing conditions.
Hello Fellow Saltwater Anglers,
With 50mph gusts and few fishing opportunities recently I try something I’ve always wanted to know - can you go sea fishing when the weather blows. Now Mum if You are watching, yes i did avoid the swells , I chose a spot close to the car park. I hope there are a few tips to fish in these conditions , Ive often wondered if i can fish when no one else wants to go fishing - In this video we find out.
A few notes on fish handling and chucking fish back ! It is true that many whiting do not survive being captured here today lots of compromises were made because of the conditions. I don't normally drag fish in but go to meat them at the waters edge. Obviously with the waves and backwash strong i was keeping my distance from the water.
Throwing fish back isn't as good as releasing them to recover in the water. Better care admittedly would of been taken with Bass but this again was a case of the waves taking me out !
