This was my first time getting into true wild rainbows and they were a blast. Learned a lot on this day of fishing. Tough fighting fish on a stream where the current worked against you more often than not. The caddis hatch was on in this watershed and for most of the day all we used was size 12-16 a classic elk hair or cdc & elk caddis fly (did throw a size 10 yellow stimulator and had good success on that as well). Rod was my Orvis clearwater 4wt 10', started off using a tapered 9' 4x leader, but quickly swapped the 4x for 3x because of how these fish fought and the swiftness of the stream.
