Spent an afternoon in July fly fishing the Madison River in Montana. The weather was gloomy, but the fishing was bright! I had non-stop action Euro Nymphing before the storms rolled in. After the storms passed, I returned with my dry fly rod, and the success continued.
The flies of the day for nymphing were a size 14 Jack Daniels, a size 16 soft hackle Walt's Worm, and a new pattern of mine, the Brown Sugar perdigon, in a size 16. The Dry Fly was a size 12 Jimi Hendrickson. I caught Rainbows, Cutbows, Brown Trout, and Whitefish.
In this video, I offer you pointers on how to fish the Madison, along with some other helpful tips and strategies. I also highlight how incredible this fishery is.
The Madison River is a special place, and I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did fishing!
Thanks for watching and tight lines!
Cory
