I've watched a lot of anglers netting fish over the last year. Some of them have been strangers I've watched on the water and others have been competitors which I've judged while at a competition. One common thread I've seen is that many anglers struggle with the final moments of getting a trout into their net. Specifically, they often have too much or too little line out of the rod so that the angle of the rod relative to the fish is incorrect when they move the fish toward the net. In this video, I'm going to show you how I know if I have the "Goldilocks" amount of line out that will let me easily and smoothly glide a fish into the net.
