Fly Fishing for the Small Creeks of Appalachia for Native Trout!
Brook Trout are the only native species of char in the southern Appalachians. A relic of the last ice age, these fish spend their time in small tributaries with cold water. In the summers these fish survive by the skin of their teeth using springs and dense rhododendron as cover. These little survivalists are some of my favorite fish to target, and you'll always catch a few that show you just how impressive these fish can look. I'd argue they're some of the most beautiful fish on earth.
