Colorado Day 3 takes us to some small creeks that were loaded with trout!
There’s something about small stream trout fishing that’s good for the soul. These small streams see much less pressure than the larger rivers they flow into, and produce some of the most fun you can have on the water. Catching dozens of fish in a few hours isn’t unusual and the views are unmatched.
One thing about the western US is there is no lack of good trout water to fish and areas to explore. It seems like every creek has some sort of cool waterfall, canyon, or unique feature that sets it apart from the last. These very features often lead you to areas that get little to know fishing pressure from the average angler. And for the few who are willing to push on, the fishing can get ridiculous.
Fly fishing for brook trout in small creeks is one of my favorite things to do, so while I was out fishing in Colorado I decided to try and catch a few. Turns out it wasn't that difficult to find brook trout in the Rocky Mountains!
