This was our first Bluefin for the winter season in Ocean City Maryland, the day before Halloween, October 30th, which is very fitting as people call bluefins "ghosts" due to the way they can be present one day, and gone the next! Anyone who has been out chasing these things knows the feeling, it literally can go from catching a limit one day, to not getting a bite the next day, that's part of the allure of chasing these fish, not only is it cool how close to shore they will come, but the constant hunt for a bite is frustrating at times, but so rewarding when you finally get one! Phil is a longtime friend of ours and has been catching these fish for almost 20 years now, both commercially and recreationally, from Maine to Moorehead City, so having him come along for the day was a treat! Like I said in the video it's not that he does anything crazy different, but these fish will have you questioning everything you know, and sometimes a little confidence and a lot of patience goes a long way! Having Phil there to reassure us "the bite is coming, we just gotta wait our turn, everything's right, we'll get em" as we trolled from 10am to 2pm with no bites, lots of marks, even boats next to us catching, but patience paid off as our bite came at 3 o'clock, just as we were about ready to give up for the day!
