My buddy Kody and Justin invited Brook and I to fish with them out of Key West, FL. We headed West to fish the shrimp boats in the Gulf of Mexico. The shrimp fisherman drag the bottom with nets all night long and then in the morning they anchor up and sort through their catch. They separate the shrimp from what they call "trash", which can include things like blue crabs, ribbonfish, lane snapper, and others. The way the fishery works is you pull up to the shrimp boats and start chumming at the stern of the boat and drift away from the shrimp boat. Fish like cobia, Tuna, Sharks and bonito are attracted to the bycatch of the shrimp boats and hang around them.
