Day 4 in the Canadian wilderness… and things get sketchy fast. In today’s episode, Almost Stranded DEEP in the Canadian Wilderness (Fly Fishing), our trip takes a rough turn right from the start. We’re hours from civilization when we get a flat tire in the middle of nowhere—no service, no towns, nothing but mountains, forest, and a long dirt road. After finally getting things sorted, we push deeper into the backcountry and make it to one of the most remote glacier rivers we’ve ever fished.
Once we reach the river, the day completely turns around. I start the morning swinging flies and immediately connect with two big bull trout back-to-back. The water is cold and crystal blue, the canyon is massive, and these fish are fired up. Mountainwell gets into some action too, and after a couple close calls, he finally sticks the giant bull trout we’ve been searching for all trip.
