Trout fishing is really fun when you figure out how to catch trout on a dry fly. This video is Part two of my fly fishing mission out in the most amazing trout fishery in South Africa
This part two of my trout fishing experience started really slow for me moving from pool to pool trying to catch trout on small streamers like wooly buggers. After a couple hour in the evening we decided to head over to the dam that looks like a donut and try and catch some trout.
We where still casting our wooly buggers around trying to get a trout to bite our flies. After a couple cast later I had hooked into my first trout. This trout was caught on a Olive wooly Bugger with a gold cone like head.
The trout where in that feeding time and next cast I caught my second trout. this was awesome and we thought we were going to catch plenty fish. This didn't happen.
After a while of fishing with the wooly bugger and not getting any bites I switched over to the dry fly. The trout where rising all the time we were fishing the wooly buggers. The trout where eating a small black insect on the surface. So I tied on a black dry fly and I got my first dry fly trout.
Catching trout on the dry fly was a very different experience. It was a very great feeling and I will be doing dry fly fishing for a the for seeable future.
