In this video I go over native brook trout and how to find them, what to use when you fish for them, and how to break down water while you're fishing. I hope everyone enjoys this video and participates in the future series videos.

What to take away from the video:
1. The tippet I typically use is 5x but it really doesn’t matter all that much, brook trout are typically not that leader shy.
2. Best time to fish for brook trout is usually April - July with a runner up being September. You can catch fish all times of the year but the winter can be tough and the dog days of the summer can produce low flows that make it difficult. Also Brook Trout spawn in October - November so it's best to leave them alone during that time.
3. For late spring into the summer my top 3 brook trout flies are stimulators, elk hair caddis, and parachute Adams (size 12-16). A runner up is a small wooly bugger.
4. Rod size is usually smaller, with anything from a 0 to a 3 wt working best (although any rod can work)
5. Most states have some sort of public resource that will allow you to find brook trout waters. They’re usually not all complete, but will give you an awesome place to start.
6. Be methodical in how you work up into pools and runs to maximize the amount of fish you catch.
