Day 3 of the adventure…and I honestly didn’t expect to find this deep in the middle of Canada’s wilderness. In this episode, we push farther into remote backcountry water—and it finally happens. After days of hiking, scouting, and swinging big flies, we come across an absolute unit of a bull trout pushing 30 inches.
With nothing but our spey rods, a few hand-tied streamers, and miles of untouched river ahead of us, we spend the day chasing these giant bull trout as they hunt kokanee in glacier-fed water. I even tie fresh flies right on the riverbank before we start swinging through these incredible runs.
Everyone on the crew gets a real shot at a big fish, and by the end of the day I end up landing another giant bull trout—one of the most unreal moments of the entire trip.
