Surf fly Fishing for Striped Bass & Finding a Pattern on the Beach. Birds, bait and popping striped bass! No. Not today. Today was a fish. Finding a pattern on a welly beach with line casting tackle can be difficult. You are not going to cover a good volume of water. I ran into Jeff and Joe picking stray fish tight on the pockets. Jeff and Joe gave me hope I needed. You can depend on 100 years of knowledge. I knew striped bass were in and relating. I found a good zone in a pocket and fished tight with the deceiver fly. I was able to work the lip, rock, and hole. Some dozens of casts and a rising surf, finally striper on! Quite satisfied with the results of day I took some dozens more casts until the surf became unmanageable and picked a few more fish out with the casting tackle. If I did not run into Jeff and Joe which gave me the hope I needed I would have grabbed the casting tackle much earlier in the day. Thank you for hope!
