Giant Trevally, known as the 'gangsters of the flats,' have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. These powerful predators, infamous for their aggressive strikes and massive size, can grow up to 70 inches and weigh nearly 200 lbs. I’d always dreamed of traveling across the world to target this ruthless species on fly—and finally, that time has come.
After some planning and compromise, my amazing future wife Erika agreed to make this dream part of our honeymoon adventure. Now, freshly married, we set off across the Pacific to a remote island paradise. My mission? To take on the GT without a boat or guide, exploring the shallow marine flats by foot, learning firsthand what it takes to catch this iconic species in their natural habitat.
