Winter Fly Fishing on the MOST REMOTE Stream! "A Short Film"

Join me on a solo winter fly fishing adventure as I backpack deep into a remote river system in search of giant wild rainbow trout. Battling through crazy weather conditions, I explore the icy wilderness and uncover some massive fish. From dry flies to streamers and nymphs, every catch is a wild ride, and the action is nonstop.

Thanks to Postfly’s monthly subscription box, I had the perfect flies for this time of year, proving that their handpicked selections can handle even the harshest conditions.

The day started off rough—heavy snow, relentless rain, and wind tearing up the river made for a brutal start to the morning. Despite the conditions, I hiked in, expecting the fishing to either be incredible or completely dead.

When I finally reached the river, I was pleasantly surprised to see pods of trout rising to small tricos on the surface. Excited, I tore open my Postfly box, quickly rigging up a dry fly to match the hatch. On my very first cast, a beautiful, big rainbow trout smashed the dry fly. But with tricos being so tiny—specifically a size 24 dry fly—I ended up losing that fish and several others right after.

Eventually, I landed my first trout, and from there, it was game on. The streamer bite was nonstop, and I barely had a reason to switch to nymphs. It turned out to be an unforgettable day on the river, and I’ll be dreaming of another adventure like this for a long time.
