The Official July 17th Weekly San Juan River Fly Fishing Report
Reported by Stephen Souva, Fly Fishing Guide at Fisheads San Juan River Lodge.
Monsoon season is here and flows have once again risen to 700 cfs. With the increase in flows come river debris; keeping your flies clean is a must for a great day of fishing. Fly patterns remain similar to last week. We are still seeing midge activity in olive in sizes 22 and 24. Leeches have also become more effective with increasing water flows; pairing a leech with red larva has been a go to. The main takeaway for anglers is to adjust your depth and weight rather than changing your flies and remember to clean your flies between casts.
