I wanted to give Lake McClure another try after fishing there 2 weeks ago and having good luck, so I headed up to Horseshoe Bend again. It was another excellent day. I ended up with about 25 fish ranging from 12-17 inches. Here is video of about 20 of them. Today the bass' favorite lure was a 2.5" squarebill in a bluegill pattern. I also caught some on the fishhead jig with a swim senko in goby as well as the usual bleeding shad spinner bait. The water temp is running about 71, the air temp hit about 85, and the winds were generally light, BUT the central valley heats up faster than the mountains in the morning, and that causes a lot of east-to-west wind around 8-9 AM. It was really howling down the Merced River branch but settled down nicely after 9.
