We went fishing in late October searching for Lake Erie giant walleye. While the tough conditions were less than ideal as we set out, they went from bad to worse. We had a tough time with boat control while trolling using our drift bags due to the 40MPH gusts and 5-7 foot waves. Tangled lines, broken gear, uncontrollable boat. It was time to head in.
Since we were fishing on larger boat with Chip Cartwright, the owner of Silver Streak Lures and guide captain Ron Levitan, we used big planer boards which allowed us to cover more water and reduce surge.
We'll show you tips on how and when to use big planer boards instead of inline church planer boards to put more fish in the boat.
