There are very few places that live up to the word “legendary,” but you’ll find one of those places on the Tennessee/Kentucky border, about an hour north of Nashville. This legendary place can claim some of the biggest smallmouth bass that have ever been caught.
It’s impossible not be impressed when you walk in the door at the Pickett County Visitors Center in Byrdstown, Tennessee, and get your first look at the town’s most famous resident. There he lurks in the corner, hanging on the wall in all his glory: the 11-pound, 15-ounce smallmouth bass that helped make this small town north of Nashville – and nearby Dale Hollow Lake – famous the world ‘round.
Welcome to the Legend of Dale Hollow Lake. This latest episode in the Fishing Towns series presented by the Bill Dance Signature Lakes explores a fishery and fishing-town community that are rightfully hallowed as some of the best in the world for smallmouth bass. You’ll see Dale Hollow as the locals see it: as their home, and their pride and joy! Welcome to their Fishing Town!
