What an amazing episode, fishing at the stunning location of Lake Fyans on the Grampians Halls Gap. This time were chasing a 50cm redfin whilst running through a heap of tipss and techniques on how to catch redfin on soft plastics and how to catch redfin on lures at Halls Gap the which provides the wonderful backdrop to the Grampians. Were fishing Lake Fyans on a Drop Bear x300 kayak and we get stuck into some amazing fishing action. Flicking soft plastics among the timber, weeds and structure and trolling we catch some amazing big redfin english perch and rainbow trout. In what is a remarkable fishing system with scenic views and unbelievable fishing in Victoria.

Can you catch redfin on soft plastics? Yes absolutely

What lure to use to catch redfin? Shallow and mid divers, soft plastics, cranks, vibes, blades and much more English perch are not fussy will take many lures

What size lure for redfin? 2.5, 3 and 4 inch soft plastics like grubs and paddletails, lures typically between 50 and 80mm, vibes and blades between 30 and 45mm

Do redfin eat surface lures? 100% they do we have much footage catching them in shallow waters using lures like daiwa slippery dogs and OSP bent minnows

What weight line for redfin? Typically between 6lb and 10lb. I generally use 8lb

Can you throw redfin back in Victoria? all redfin caught in this video were kept. In Victoria its encouraged not to release redfin english perch even though its not mandatory but more recommended. There are particular system were you are not allowed to release redfin

What is the best time to catch redfin? Redfin can be caught during any time of day and all year round. They can be more active on dawn and dusk. We find you get big volumes in the warmer months and less catches but bigger sizes in the cooler months.
