If you’re tired of losing shad in coolers or square containers, this easy portable DIY bait tank is a simple solution that actually works. In this video, I show you how I built a round, aerated bait tank for my small boat setup using easy-to-find parts.

I built mine using all brand-new materials for around $160, but you can definitely build it for less by shopping Marketplace or using items you already have around the house.

This setup keeps bait swimming naturally in circles with proper water movement — which is key for keeping shad alive longer.

Whether you run a jon boat, aluminum boat, kayak, or small fishing rig, this portable bait tank design can be scaled up or down to fit your setup.
