Today’s fishing trip turned into an exciting tuna session as I put a long-line fishing method to the test using fresh mackerel bait. I also tried drop-stone fishing, using a homemade chum bag made from an old umbrella to get the bait and berley down to the bottom.
It took a little patience, but once the tuna arrived, the action started! 🔥 Fish after fish came onto the long line, including some beautiful-sized tuna.
The biggest surprise of the day? Most of the larger tuna were caught using filleted bait, while the smaller fish took the whole bait — completely opposite to what I normally expect!
By the end of the trip, I had run out of bait and it was time to head home with a great catch to clean.
